Revelations // Resolutions
It’s crazy that we’re already twenty-six days into the new
year, isn’t it? Overall the first few weeks were great, but this past week has definitely
been a roller coaster of emotions. I was incredibly sadden to find out about the
passing of a friend from college, and while it sucked, he somehow managed to
bring all of us crazy people back together and make us laugh to the point of
tears just from sharing memories. But because of the whole situation it got me
thinking of what I wanted to make happen in the new year. While most people
make their new year resolutions by the first (or even before then-but if you
ask me that’s just overachieving), I chose to really take my time to think
about mine. I wanted to make it something achievable, broad and, most of all,
positive for myself. So, after much thought, I’ve come up with a small list of
things to do/work on/ experience.
1.
Reconnect
with people who meant a lot to me/made an impact on me in some way.
2.
Be more
positive about every situation (maybe by writing a high and a low of every day)
3.
Explore
more (work to travel, work to travelà ill just keep
repeating that to myself)
4.
Do more
for others (I used to volunteer a lot, I need to get back into that)
SO, this weekend I dove right in and took a road trip up to
Baltimore to visit my friend Emily (who just got an amazing job in ManhattanàSO EXCITED FOR YOU!!! )
before she moved. It felt so good to get to see an old friend and do fun
touristy things with her. We spent the day walking around visiting places like
Graffiti Alley, Papermoon Diner and Inner Harbor.
Can I just say, Graffiti Alley is awesome. Anyone who says
graffiti isn’t art is insane because this stuff was beautiful. Papermoon Diner
is seriously an experience in itself. If you’ve never been, GO. I swear you
wont be disappointed. Its small and filled with crazy art and trinkets. I could
spend hours just staring at the walls, but the food is pretty great too. Over
all it was such a fun little trip.
.
We’re almost a whole month into the new year, what kind of
year to plan on having?
Get out there and enjoy it
xx
