Florida Recap

With Memorial Day (and the impending wave of tourists) approaching quicker than I expected, a month ago I decided to buy a ticket for one last trip to Orlando before the craziness started. For those of you that don't know, my best friends moved to the Orlando area almost a year ago so any excuse is a good excuse to go down to visit (at least in my opinion) and I never miss a birthday. So last Thursday I caught a flight down for a week of birthday fun and a little adventure.

Saturday the girls turned 24 so the weekend was full of fun activities for all of us to do. Sadly, this cake was neglected (RIP cake) in the process.

The first few days of the trip were pretty low-key, but on Saturday we made our way to Melbourne to soak  up some sun and go out in a different town. This was the view from our friend, Kristin's family vacation home, which they were nice enough to let us use for the day. This was my first trip to Melbourne, but it definitely won't be my last. Its so peaceful and if you're a beach bum like I am I'm sure you'd love it too. Saturday night we went out in downtown Melbourne and, to be 100% honest the night is a little hazy. I do know that everyone had a blast (we definitely felt that in the morning) and that at one point I danced so hard that I physically fell over (smh).

A few weeks before I came down I watched Nik Wallenda walk across the newest attraction in the Orlando area, The Orlando Eye. If you're familiar with the London Eye, its made by the same people and is the largest Ferris wheel in North America. Despite my irrational fear of heights I almost annoyingly begged that we did this and I'm so stoked we did. The entire time you're in a pod that, at the highest point, gives you a completely new perspective of the Orlando area. You can see everything,  including the top of the castle in Magic Kingdom.

On Tuesday we decided to hit up Universal Studios & Island of Adventure. Obviously my highlight was visiting Diagon Ally, drinking butter beer and riding rides in Seuss Land. The dragon in Diagon Ally is also one of the coolest things in the area. It periodically spits fire out at the crowd and really makes you feel like you're in one of the movies. Clearly I'm fan-girling but seriously check it out.

The last few days of my trip were pretty low key and involved grabbing food in the cutest town, Celebration, FL and being an asshole tourist in the Kissimmee area.

On my last day (like literally 2 hours before my flight) Chrissy and I decided to grab a matching set of tattoos. A few years ago we traveled to Italy together and had the time of our lives so we decided to get "my friend, my sister" in Italian. It was impromptu and perfect and so much fun. The guys at Fallen Sparrow are awesome and do some amazing work so if you're ever in the Orlando area check them out you won't be disappointed

Overall, the trip was a much needed escape before the busy season here in Maryland starts and I'm stoked that I was able to swing it. As always, thank you crib, katie and kristin for letting me crash in your apartment and making the week so fun. Can't wait to get back down there!
