Firefly Recap

Okay, someone pinch me. No really, pinch me, because I actually feel like a walking zombie after the crazy fun long weekend I just experienced. For the past three years the end of June means one thing for me: Firefly Music Festival/ 4 days of unreal living/ filling my soul with music from all my favorite bands. This past weekend was the absolute best to put it mildly.
Yes, my shirt says what you think.

This year names like Kings of Leon, Empire of the Sun, Kygo, Foster the People and Paul McCartney made buying a ticket a no brainer. So early Thursday morning we loaded up our RV and made our way to the woodlands for a few days of music bliss. We scored by getting a super cool group of neighbors and started the weekend seeing The Kooks later that night. Friday was packed with names like Walk the Moon Paul McCartney and Zedd among others.

Here's a snap of Paul's performance. 10 min into his set, the sound was messed up and no one could hear what he was singing but thankfully everything was fixed and he was able to successfully make all of us drool over watching a Beatle.

Zedd was also one of my favorites from Friday. There wasn't a dull moment in his set and it for sure made me white girl dance pretty damn hard.

Saturday was supposed to be packed with more music (we did get to see Foster the People and a few others) but by 10 everyone was "evacuated" because of poor weather which meant Kid Cudi and Steve Aoki were canceled (we were lucky enough to catch Steve Aoki Sunday, sadly we couldn't get close enough to get caked *sigh*). We made the most of it and had our own rave in our RV which ended up being way more fun than any of us imagined.
Sunday meant one thing for me: EMPIRE OF THE SUN. Ask anyone who stayed with me, this was literally all I cared about. Empire hardly ever makes stops in the States, and when they do they only make one or two stops, so it was a big deal. I had heard so many great things about their performances so I went into it expecting so much and they definitely didn't disappoint. In fact, they pretty much melted my mind.

This weekend was absolutely awesome. I couldn't have asked to spend it with a cooler group of people and I'm happy to say that it was for sure one for the books. Is it too late to start counting down for next year?
