Plane tickets, Hurricanes & Punk Rock
My mind has been wandering a lot lately. I’m in my last year
of graduate school and for some reason I am more unsure of where I’ll end up and
what I’ll be doing than I ever have been. I’ve caught myself questioning my own
use of time and the amount of energy I put into the relationships in my life.
You see, I care more about the people around me than I do most things, but like
time and life, you cant control the way people treat you. I’ve come to accept
that though, it’s simply something that’s out of my hands for the time being
and I have to remind myself that every single one of us is on our own journey
of figuring things out.
Figuring out who you are, the things that motivate you and
who motivates you dredges up feelings that most are not used to. Its unfamiliar,
uncomfortable at times, but beautiful. It’s the way you react to the things
that happen to you, the choices you make and the choices of others that
determines how wonderful life can be. So, with that being said, I am choosing to focus on the good, to find
the beauty in the stress, and to take advantage of the little moments of down
time that I’m lucky to get.
This past month I had an opportunity to jet down to Florida
for a long girls weekend with some of my best friends. Hurricane Matthew
threatened to come between me and my plans, but I chose to fly down any way (a
day before the storm and to my mothers dismay- she was convinced I was insane) and was surprised to find out that the hurricane would
essentially work its way around the area I was in (we had high winds and rain
but nothing compared to what most people experienced). Some how I managed to have great weather
otherwise and got to take advantage of some down time during my semester. Upon my return I
made a quick stop at Terrain At Styers (its on my way home from the airport and
I couldn’t pass up seeing how they had it decorated for fall). And then the
following day I was in Philly again for
the Sum 41: Don’t Call It A Sum Back tour.
Its been a whirlwind of a few weeks but that’s just how I
like it. I’ll be daydreaming of these pictures while I tackle the growing pile
of course work that middle of the semester deadlines brings.

*disclaimer- me and crib got stuck while trying to canoe to a nearby island. Literally picture us wedged on a fallen tree spinning like a dradle. It's okay to laugh, I am now, but at the time I was so anxious that a hiding gator could come out of nowhere that i could have puked lol*

This trail took you from the palm trees growing in the swamp areas to the change in vegetation as you moved upward.
