I thought it was Spring?
I don't know about you, but I am sick of the cold. Although the first day of Spring has come and gone, the weather between Ocean City and Lancaster has proved that winter might be here to stay. Yesterday, in an attempt to "think spring", I spent the day at one of my favorite
places in Pennsylvania. Longwood Gardens is honestly what I imagine a heaven to
look like. Its countless acres of trees, flowers and intricate plants that
guests get to walk through and admire. My sweet
friend Colleen and I chose to scope out their conservatory, where it was 30
degrees warmer than the outside temps, and filled with color. The conservatory is split up into several
different rooms that showcase different types of plants and flowers. Its truly
magical. Longwood is a place where getting lost wouldn’t be the worst thing and
around every corner is a beautiful surprise.

This month Longwood was showcasing Orchids so multiple rooms were arranged to highlight their beauty.
But I'll always be a sucker for pink Roses
The Cactus room at Longwood is easily in my top 10 for personal happy places (don't lie we all have that list). Its amazing to see how big some of these cacti get and secretly it makes me hope my puny cactus on my kitchen table will one day be this big. One can hope right?
We were lucky enough to catch the cactus room around sunset so the view was amazing. I started to feel bad because once we walked the whole conservatory I made Colleen come back to this room just so I could peep at it once more.
This is a walk way in their main room.
After spending hours roaming the different rooms we decided
to check out a place called Terrain at Styers that was only a few miles down
the road. Terrain is a hybrid cross between a greenhouse, urban outfitters
home-goods section and a café/restaurant. It sounds like a lot going on at once
but I would definitely recommend going to anyone who has any type of interest
an those sorts of things. The outside has different areas where you can buy
different plants and outdoor furniture ( I’m sure if it had been further into
spring the outside would have been my favorite ). Inside there are beautiful displays, cook
books, plants, a build your own terrarium station, and countless other goods
for anyone interested in gardening or setting up/decorating the cutest home.
The store portion leads to a café where
you can order coffees and light snacks and beyond that is a restaurant. We
opted for a simple coffee and spent a good hour and a half browsing/narrowing
down items that we wanted to buy.
Every wall is used as some sort of display or decoration inspiration. Its cool to see how people choose to use the products.
This wall is normally full of plants when weather permits, but needless to say it was still something to look at.
If you're ever in the Kennet Square area consider checking either of these places out. They're affordable and worth making a day trip for.
xx
