one persons trash is someone else's treasure

For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with reading about the past and finding vintage items. As I got older, thrifting became a hobby. I don't know why, but I get a sort of thrill out of looking through old things hoping to find a gem. And lets face it, I've lucked out that thrifting has started to become some what trendy (I no longer look like a loser when I ask someone to go to an antique store with me, *Yay for small victories*). It really is pretty awesome to see how something that could be considered trash can be transformed into something totally different with a little TLC.

Last weekend was one of my last weekends off before the hectic summer season starts so I chose to take a road trip back to Pennsylvania and spend some time with friends and family. My Dad's job allows him to travel to a bunch of different places and on Sunday he happened to be traveling to a town called North East, Maryland. I decided to tag along and make a Dad-Daughter day of it, and I'm so glad I did. North East is a small, artsy town thats filled with antique shops, boutiques and cute little restaurants that are all easily walkable from any side of town. For those of you familiar with the Ocean City area, it reminded me a lot of a larger version of Berlin, Md. We grabbed lunch and decided to stroll through town to see what we could find.

One of the shops was a gold mind. It was legitimately packed from floor to ceiling with tons of treasures.
It took everything in me not to each one of these photos/mirrors. Yeah the pictures were cool that were inside, but I was seriously lusting over the frames.
Of all the things my dad could buy he chose this sign. *sigh* disclaimer: I get my love for booze from him shocker
OKAY. CAN WE HAVE A MOMENT and appreciate the amazingness of these outfits. My dad had to talk me off the ledge from spending all my money on this dress. Mint condition from the 70's, I felt like I needed it.
He eventually did though because we spotted this gem hidden in an old cabinet display in its seemingly plain case. A polorioid sx-70 land camera *insert happy dance here* AND to make things even better I got it for a steal, so theres that.

If you get a chance check out North East. It's fun for a day trip and has some serious gold hiding in some of its shops.

What are you lusting over?

xx
