Tic. Toc.

Why is time such a problem for most of us twenty-somethings? I couldn’t tell you just how many times I’ve heard people my age either complain about having too much extra time or not having nearly enough. It’s almost like time has become a sort of excuse for some of us to not pursue the things we really desire. It’s taken 4 years of college and 1 year of wondering aimlessly into my next chapter to realize I can’t use time as a crutch for not doing something.

For as long as I can remember I’ve always said, “My life is a perfect example of bad timing” but now I’m realizing maybe I was the one standing in my own way all along. I’ve come to realize that timing will never be right. Something will always be in the way, its just a matter of putting the doubts that come with these road bumps to the side and saying screw it and going for your dreams. My fear for myself, and most of you twenty-somethings, is what we could miss out on if we continue to allow time to run our lives. It’s quite crazy, when you think about it, how many opportunities most of us have passed up simply because we didn’t think we could accomplish them. Or what about the people we’ve missed out on because of “bad timing”?  How crazy would it be if you were around the perfect person, but wrote it off completely because of bad timing?? Nuts, but I bet many of us have.

I guess the main thing I want to get across is how important it is for us to take advantage of the time we have right now. We’re twenty-something, many of us without tons of responsibilities holding us back, so why are we allowing the seconds on a clock dictate what we do? Take control and do your thing on your own time. No one will judge you, and if they are its probably because they’re envious.
